Fashion week Milan (8)
This is fun!
Milan fashion week ended on Saturday 24th with the Ab/Soul show,
a young and energetic brand with playmate Victoria Silvstedt as
testimonial. It was up to her to open and close the show, all curves,
sexiness and smile.

Playmate Victoria Silvstedt,
Ab/Soul FW 2007-8
The public loved her. Especially the photographers and cameramen
who - exhausted by the long fashion week with no fewer than 228
runway shows - made no effort to hide their appreciation.
But the climax still had to come. An old, wrinkled and shy woman,
her apron full with hair curlers, suddenly appeared on the runway
and stole the show
To everybody's great surprise, Victoria
included. The contrast between blond and voluptuous Victoria and
this disarmingly sweet, old lady was overwhelming. A bit of auto
irony never hurts, especially in the fashion world which is full
of people that take themselves awfully seriously.

This charming woman unexpectedly stole the show
and got even more applause than playmate Victoria,

A non-classical beauty
Milagros Schmoll (1989) from Argentina might not be a classical
beauty, she definitely has character and style. I think she is one
of this season's most beautiful and interesting models.

When she posed for my camera, backstage at
Pollini's, my memory stick turned out to be full.
Luckily I got another opportunity.

Dsquared - Protect yourself
Protect yourself. Padded leather, studded shields, steel
tooth boots and metal chain dresses. Know your opponent.
Tailored is the best first impression. Take flight. Oversized
coats and baggy bombers. Race to the finish. Never let him
see you coming: black is always good!

High and everything but elegant
The shoes for fall/winter 2007-8 are incredible! Height and forms
are exaggerated to the max. Many designers went for platforms and/or
column heels. The height elongates the already very slim silhouette,
reminding me sometimes of
Marilyn Manson.

Dreams come true
Once upon a time there was an enchanted world full of white
swans and colorful butterflies, where splendid damsels moved like
fairies in their flowing silk dresses. They walked gracefully, showing
unexpected glimpses of satin and organza beneath regal velvet, soft
vicuna, and warm felt carried by the icy winds blowing in from faraway
lands.

It was said that magic from the sixties was the cause, returning
from the past to welcome the style and imagination of true believes.
Here in this enchanted forest amidst flowers and birds, the
girls adorned themselves with mysterious mirrors, perhaps to ask
and finally learn who was the fairest of them all in the kingdom
or perhaps to play with colors, lights and reflections or discover
new shapes. Who knows? There were also wrapped around their bodies
like the plots of arcane stories that can never be forgotten.

They were so carefree and dreamy that it was impossible to tell
if the were children who grew up too fast or women who remained
young girls at hear. What was certain was that their scribbles became
gorgeous decorations and their toys transformed into precious jewels.
It was said however, that they also knew how to look so austere
and serious, with almost dramatic severity, that they could transform
the lightness of a dream into something as hard as concrete.
But no magical spell was broken, because this is a tale of dreams
come true.

Kissable lips
Seen at the Fashion week in Milan. I love this combination of pink
and red for the lips. It's delicate, sweet and sexy.

It's been a long time...
It's been a long time... since my last post. I flew from Bangkok
(with a lot of turbulence) to Amsterdam, and from Amsterdam to Milan
to follow the international fashion week (for winter 2007-8) which
started last Saturday. I've seen about 20 shows in three days. This
picture on it's own was already worth it!

(I think) I love Korean food
A few nights ago I had dinner at a Korean restaurant. I was really
excited to try this (at least to me) 'new' kitchen. The menu contained
many meat dishes (complete with pictures of the raw meat) and various
soups. I ordered 'beef' (at least it sounded familiar), a vegetarian
tofu soup and a sweet Korean rice wine (maybe it doesn't go with
the dinner, but it was very good anyway).

Just some articles I bought after a delicious
dinner at the Korean restaurant
Dinner came with a lot of side dishes: delicious sour-sweet cabbage,
tiny tiny fishes (with little, sweet eyes), beans, 'Korean pizza',
sweet potatoes and lots of garlic. But the best thing was that the
meat goes on a built-in 'private' barbecue with hot coals (and aspirator),
just at your own table. I'm definitely going back. In the meantime
I bought some Korean wine and ginseng tea. To enjoy at home.

Valentine's Day in Asia
In the (Far East) world of Hello Kitty's and teddy bears, Valentine's
Day cannot be else than a lovely, pink coloured business. Malls
and shops, even the smallest ones, are full of funny gifts, sweet
candies and romantic postcards in delicate pink or bright red shades.

Valentine's Day itself is even more fun. Last year I ended up with
little heart shaped stickers all over my face and arms, given to
me by people on the street. Also this year Valentine's day promises
well. Today I shot this picture in one of the big malls in the centre
of Bangkok, and believe me: it's just a little corner of the huge
Valentine's collection.

fcuk?!
Yesterday I discovered the fcuk cosmetic line (I love their fashion
but didn't know the brand's beauty products till now). Just couldn't
resist buying some items. I simple love the packaging and the products'
names. I proudly added to my beauty case: 'Lick me' (lip gloss)
and 'Cream Up' (eau de fcuk 1).

I found the packaging so inspiring I had to
take some pics of it
The lip gloss turned out to be fabulous with a gorgeous sheer (and
long lasting!) gloss. The taste is as good as the gloss: a refreshing
mix of peppermint and menthol. The body cream is soft, slightly
perfumed and surprisingly smooth (it looks like yoghurt). But let's
be honest, it's the packaging that makes the product (and there
sure ís something in a name!)

Eye thing (3)
The make-up below is realized by my favourite make-up artist (see
post 4).
She is an autodidact and let's herself guide only by her creativity
and intuition. Also this time she did a lovely job, as she combined
olive green and shades in old gold (YSL) with 'Sensualize lustre'
(MAC), a copper brown shade I love. But the nicest are the lashes
which are enriched with light green sparkles she attached with transparent
eyeliner!

Can't wait to show you this picture. I love the lashes with the
glitter. Tomorrow more about it!

Eye thing
In these days I definitely have an 'eye thing'. I'm fixated with
eye make-up. I'm fascinated by forms, colours, textures (and products!).

You cannot imagine how happy I was with this
shot
(Antonio Marras S/S 2007). Usually fashion show photographers
immediately delete the 'closed eye pics' but I love them, because
they
give me the opportunity to analyse also the smallest make-up details.
And I'm lucky to have the right people around. At the men's fashion
shows I ran into a make-up artist who could tell me everything about
the eye make-up at the Antonio Marras show in Milan. He revealed
me the secret behind the beautiful 'glossy' eyes on the catwalk.
It's called 'Gloss Crème Brillance' (MAC), a transparent
gloss that can be used for eyes, cheeks, lips
or whatever.
I love it. And bought it, but did not find the time yet to try it.
I'll keep you updated.
